Day 4 - Fredriksted
Frederiksted, on the west shore of St. Croix or the "west end", is growing in popularity as a cruise port. Its historic buildings, shops, restaurants and hotels are well worth a visit for land travelers, too. Read More
Day 5 - Gustavia
St. Barts' capital, dollhouse-size GUSTAVIA, is an appealing blend of red-roofed villas and heavy-set grey-stone buildings that plays second fiddle to its deep U-shaped harbour, where yacht-watching over a bottle of wine at a waterfront cafe ranks as the unofficial town sport. A close runner-up for that title is shopping, as dozens of duty-free boutiques line the main drag, Rue de la Republique. Read More
Day 6 - Castries
St. Lucia is dotted with swaying palms, and blessed with warm, turquoise waters that are perfect for swimming. Stroll through the lovely shops in the Port Seraphine area of the Castries; or take a tour to Soufrieres "drive-in" volcano, on to the famous Diamond Mineral Baths and waterfall, set in one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Read More
Day 7 - Scarborough
Blanketed in the luxuriant greenery and brightly-colored flowers, this enchanted island is scalloped with beautiful beaches. There are sandy coves beside coral reefs, and alabaster crescents below tiny trails, leading to pretty waterfalls or plantation ruins. Best of all is the Main Ridge Rain Forest Trail, where jungle-thick ferns and giant bamboo grasses flourish under a canopy of foliage 60-feet high. Read More

Day 10 - Amazon River
Cruising the Amazon River in luxury is an experience not to be missed. At every turn, the vegetation is deep green and lush, with over 18,100 plant species. Yet the temperature is pleasant on the river, as high humidity is common only in the deep jungle. Keep an eye out for gorgeously colored tropical birds: there are more than 500 varieties. Read More
Day 11 - Santarem
The charming city of Santarem is centered around its bustling port. Sail along the tributaries of the Tapajos River for a breathtaking look at the jungle, or head for the Mercado Modelo, the open-air market in the center of town. Read More
Day 12 - Boca Do Valerio
This small vllage on the mouth of the Vaaleria River, a tributary of the Amazon, is the home of around 75 "ribeirrinhos" or river people. Here, you'll have the opportunity to see how they live, shop for handmade crafts and to wander through the village. Read More
Day 13 - Manaus
This turn-of-the-century city, once the booming center of the rubber trade, is a highlight of your Amazon cruise. Its showplace is the grandly restored 1896 opera house, Teatro Amazonas, a neo-classical masterpiece of French iron-work, Italian marble, and Louis XV furnishings. The stage curtain depicts an allegory of Manauss most spectacular natural landmark, the "wedding of the waters" where the Negro and Soliomes Rivers join to form the Amazon. Shopping will find a wide range of items in Manaus. Read More

Day 15 - Parintins
Cathedrals and churches play a prominent role in the city'scape of Parintins, reflective of the importance of faith in the citizens' lives. The scale is appropriate to a central Amazon River town of only 50,000—much smaller than the nearby state capital of Manaus. Parintins is located in the river itself, on an island of the same name. Day 18 - Devil's Island
Standing on Isle Royale in the Salvation Islands, you can see how the tropical jungle has overgrown the abandoned prison walls on Devil's Island. Long ago a leper colony, then a French prison, now Devil's Island is a tourist attraction and station for rocket scientists. The base at Kourou is responsible for launching nearly half the world's commercial satellites. Devil's Island is rich in history. This location was the subject of the book Papillon, and movie of the same name, about the colorful thief known as Henri Charriere, who claimed to be the only man to escape from Devil's Island. Now it's a place that people escape to. Read More

Day 20 - Bridgetown
The easternmost of the Caribbean islands, Barbados is also one of the most beautiful. Opt for one of the many tours available, such as the popular sojourn to tropical Andromeda Gardens. They are situated on a boulder-strewn hillside high above the sea, where ocean waters dramatically thunder against the giant rocks below. The beaches on the exclusive east coast are superb, and you may choose to head straight for one and spend the entire day relaxing. Of course, there is always shopping in Bridgetown. Read More
Day 21 - Portsmouth
Portsmouth, Dominica's second-largest town, is situated in Dominica's north-west on Prince Rupert Bay. Columbus entered the bay during his fourth voyage to the New World in 1504. Few places on earth exude eternal beauty like Dominica, located in the Eastern Caribbean, the island embraces a sense of serene, ageless beauty. It's a place where man and nature live in harmony, above and below the surrounding sea. Read More
Day 22 - St. John's, Antigua
The skyline of St. John's, the capital and largest city of Antigua and Barbuda, is dominated by the magnificently evocative white baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral. Built in 1845, the church is now in its third incarnation, as earthquakes in 1683 and in 1745 destroyed the previous structures. The towers are the first sight of Antigua for about half of the island's visitors each year, many of whom arrive by boat. With its recently completed cruise ship dock and several hotels, St. John's is a lively hub for shopping and dining. Read More

Second is Gorda Sound, a protected anchorage, known the world over by seasoned yachtsmen. Virgin Gorda, Itself, is a rustic cluster of small farms with about 1,000 inhabitants. Read More
